FILM SCREENING
THE PEOPLES EMERGENCY BRIEFING (15)

A sobering evening and an important conversation for Brockenhurst 🌿

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Greener Brockenhurst’s screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing. It was fantastic to see a packed village hall, with local residents, councillors, businesses and community groups coming together to watch and discuss the climate and nature crisis.

Featuring nine leading UK scientists and experts, the film presented the latest evidence on the challenges we face, including extreme weather, food security, health and the cost of living. It was an eye-opening and sobering experience, highlighting how much more needs to be done.

Following the screening, facilitators on each table gathered immediate feedback and encouraged discussion about what the issues raised in the film mean for our own community and what action we can take locally.

We were then joined by a fantastic panel of three experts for a Q&A, with audience questions put to:

🌿 Professor Russell Wynn, Founder Director of Wild New Forest, Chair of the New Forest Biodiversity Forum and Honorary Professor at the University of Southampton

🌿 Debbie Tann MBE, CEO of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust

🌿 John Stride, Net Zero with Nature Programme Manager at the New Forest National Park Authority

The panel shared valuable insight into local projects, the challenges facing our environment and practical ways people can get involved and make a difference.

Greener Brockenhurst will continue to explore local initiatives and share information about the actions we can all take to support our environment and community.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, our three panellists, our table facilitators and Charlotte, our GB host, for helping make the evening such a worthwhile and thought-provoking discussion.

The conversation has started. Now let’s keep it going and turn ideas into action. 🌱
